Before the Eagle, our original station -- KLAM-AM -- played a little bit of everything. We had country, classic rock, hits from the 80's, and the latest from the 90's -- all mixed evenly with news, sports, and talk programming. It sounded better than you might think, but it was still a bit much for one station. Now the Eagle features the music of the 80's, 90's and Now in stereo, and KLAM is free to focus on country and classic rock. It's a much better listening environment for our audience.
KCDV broadcasts at 970 watts at 100.9 FM. Our range seems to be roughly 27 miles depending on terrain. We play music 24 hours a day thanks to the Hot AC format from the Dial-Global Radio Network (formerly Westwood One/Jones). The music is top hit intensive, supplemented by hits from the 80's, 90's and Now with no hard rock or rap. We pretty much let the format do it's thing, with the exception of some very popular live shows that we do from our local studio. These include a a kids show which is run by our high school radio club and features the hot music of the 90's and Today by request (and in this case, the hard rock and rap are allowed).
We also have a live morning show -- "The Wake Up Call" -- every weekday which is carried on both KCDV and KLAM simultaneously from about 7:40 to 8:40am.
The Brite AC format includes an 80's show every Saturday night called "Saturday Night 80's". Our affiliation with Brite AC has also made it possible for our listeners to become eligible to win great trips and merchandise that we could never afford to give away locally. We've been able to make Cordovans eligible to travel to London, Spain, Paris, Jamaica, California, and more. Merchandise giveaways are frequent as well.
KCDV has the ability to go live, on location for commercial remotes or important news updates. While most of this type of programming is done on KLAM, we can do it equally well on the Eagle. We can also simulcast such programming on both stations.
KCDV is a commercial station -- meaning we receive no public funds. All our revenue is generated through advertisers. And if you'd like to drop us a line, feel free -- we'd love to hear from you. email@cordovaradio.com
